From Chattanooga, you can boat the downtown Tennessee River, the Tennessee River Gorge and Nickajack Lake below Chickamauga Dam, or Chickamauga Lake’s Possum Creek on the lake side of the dam. Launch at Tennessee Riverpark for the urban reach around Ross’s Landing and Maclellan Island, or use Suck Creek Boat Ramp for direct gorge access. Farther downstream, the river widens into Nickajack Lake for more open water. Possum Creek is a calmer slough off Chickamauga Lake’s main channel, with a TWRA ramp nearby. The dam separates that lake outing from the downstream Tennessee River Blueway.
