From Rockport, point into Aransas Bay, Little Bay, Copano Bay, St. Charles Bay or the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. Aransas Bay is the main open water off town; Rockport Harbor reaches it through a marked dredged channel and is no-wake. Little Bay is shoal and contains a protected ski basin. The Copano Bay Boat Ramp gives protected access to Copano and St. Charles bays; Copano has numerous unmarked reefs, while St. Charles has a shallow entrance and reefs. Cove Harbor is the county’s busiest launch, directly off the Intracoastal, whose marked channel crosses Aransas Bay toward Lydia Ann Channel and Aransas Pass.

From Rockport, boaters head to Little Bay, the San José Island shoreline, the Lydia Ann Lighthouse and the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. Little Bay’s two bird islands draw wildlife watchers during nesting season. San José Island offers a protected Aransas Bay shoreline for sunset cruises and bird sightings, while Lydia Ann Channel provides a waterborne look at the historic lighthouse. In winter, Rockport-based boats follow the Intracoastal Waterway to the refuge’s whooping crane feeding areas.
